Truck Onboard Weighing at Waste Transfer Facility

Onboard Weighing at Waste Transfer Facility

To better manage their landfill operation, Newcastle City Council recently ordered three Accuweigh hook truck weighing systems to accurately monitor the volume of waste products being added to their landfill cells.

This  project was personally handled by Accuweigh's NSW Operations Manager, Mark Mitchell, to ensure the implementation of this appealing new on-board weighing technology progressed with minimal disruption to the day to day operations of this very busy landfill site.

Waste material received from the various waste transfer facilities of N.C.C. are sorted into nominated skip bins (solid waste, inert & general waste, concrete and green waste. When full, these bins are picked up by a hook truck fitted with an Accuweigh On-board Weighing System which then records and stores the weight of the waste material and the barcode identification of the skip bin before being emptied at the nominated landfill cell.

At the end of the day, the stored data is downloaded into a spread sheet for waste volumes to be totalised on each landfill cell for EPA requirements. This allows N.C.C. to more accurately forecast the current capacity each cell, the soil cover requirements, the compaction ratio and also the residual air space of each cell.

The Accuweigh Hook Truck Weighing System provides an economical means of providing accurate data to assist the N.C.C. to better manage this landfill operation.
Trade Approved weighing systems are also available to suit a variety of truck layouts.
