Inground Axle Scales
Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch recently commissioned inground axle scales on NSW’s North Coast. The trade approved inground axle scales located at Bonville will be used by the RTA for checking axle weights of heavy vehicles using the Pacific Highway.
The galvanised inground axle scales were manufactured by QWM in Brisbane and are mounted in a shallow pit with load cell access through metal hatches built into a scale deck. These heavy duty axle scales are calibrated to 60t and measure 6m x 4.5m to ensure they can be used for weighing the latest generation trailers utilising a quad axle configuration.
Four Flintec 30t stainless steel load cells are fitted to the inground axle scales with an Accuweigh R5000 digital weight indicator transmitting axle weight readings to a PC running the RTA’s own axle scales software.
Two sets of dual remote displays manufactured by Rinstrum are installed at each end of the axle scales for displaying both the individual axle weights and gross vehicle mass to the drivers. The Bonville checking station is a manual operation and requires an RTA inspector to oversee the weighing of all trucks using the axle scales.
Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company and has branches in all mainland states providing after sales service on axle scales, weighbridges and all heavy duty weighing equipment.
