The flush fit weighbridge allows trucks to turn off while still on the weighbridge deck without first needing the entire truck/trailer to clear the end of the weighing surface. This allowed a full length weighbridge to be used to weight trucks and trailers in a single weighing within the limited space inside the old wool stores site.
Accuweigh Adelaide’s Technical Sales Consultant, Neumann, oversaw the entire project and assisted with the engineering modifications to ensure the point loadings caused where the trucks turns off the weighbridge deck doesn’t compromise the integrity of the concrete deck.
Before the install started, the original time line of four weeks start to finish seemed an easy task for Accuweigh’s very proficient weighbridge crew, until a couple of surprises were encountered during the excavations:
- concrete piers from the original wool store were lurking just below the surface
- a network of tunnels from the war years interlaced the foundations
These unforeseen problems were swiftly overcome by using a large rockbreaking machine to break down the pylons and then filling in the tunnels, but the extra 34 days did cause some concerns with the tight schedule. The high strength concrete used to cure the deck helped keep the project on schedule.
The 26 metre single deck weighbridge is fitted with 8 x Avery T302 stainless steel loadcells connected to a Rinstrum R5000 digital weight indicator. A Rinstrum D740 large digit remote display is positioned to allow the truck drivers to also see their truck’s weight readings.
The entire project was completed within the 4 weeks as required.
