An x-ray food inspection system was recently supplied by Accuweigh’s Adelaide branch for inspecting various types of packaged foods for a South Australian based food processor.
The XR-3000P X-Ray Food Inspection System is Australian Made and manufactured by Applied Sorting Technologies in Melbourne.
In this application, the client required a food inspection system for a new packaging line for various prepared food product, baby foods and food sauces contained in foil pouches. An x-ray food inspection system was required for detecting the typical organic contaminants that can be found in these food groups such as very small stones for the vegetable products and bones in the fish products.
Another benefit of AST’s XR series inspection systems is the ability for the X-Ray system to simultaneously function as a high speed checkweigher. This is done by the PC based X-Ray system comparing the food density in each package against the mass of a reference sample to an accuracy of 1% (depending on product). In many cases, this checkweighing functionality can offset the higher initial costs of Industrial Grade X-Ray food inspection systems by eliminating the need for an additional checkweigher to confirm package weights.
Using its own innovative equipment designs and locally developed software, Applied Sorting provides solutions to all x-ray food inspection needs, including:
1. Contaminant detection of non metallic items such as bones, stone and organics
2. Missing or damaged ingredient inspection for correct count and shape/density
3. Check weighing and under fill detection ensures correct pack weights
Accuweigh is the exclusive Australian re-seller of AST’s range of X-Ray Inspection Systems which allows Applied Sorting to pursue an active program of product innovation and to custom build machines for special applications.
