A set of wheel weigh pads belonging to a crane hire company was recently upgraded to multi-channel weighing by Accuweigh’s Perth branch.
The wheel weigh pads originally were all connected to a single digital weight indicator for displaying total vehicle weights.
James Equipment in Perth uses up to six wheel weigh pads positioned under a Fenner mobile crane to ensure the Safe Working Load (SWL) of the crane is not exceeded when lifting objects of unknown weight on client’s sites. Accuweigh’s solution was to connect each wheel weigh pad to individual digital weight indicators with all weight data sent to a master summing indicator.
The summing indicator was configured to allow the operator to select any combination of wheel pads weights as well as displaying total vehicle weights at all times to conform to OH&S requirements. All weighing electronics are mounted into a waterproof housing and operating from 24VDC power from the crane to allow for portable operation.
Due to their new multi-channel weighing ability, the portable axle weigh pads are now being used for other general purpose weighing tasks and for providing individual wheel weights on trucks being loaded to ensure compliance with legal axle loadings.
Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company and has eight branches across all mainland states with the experience and expertise to provide functionality upgrades on all types of scales and weighing equipment.
