SOLAR POWERED WEIGHBRIDGE FOR REMOTE QUARRY

Solar Powered Weighbridge
Solar Powered Weighbridge

A weighbridge operating off solar power was recently commissioned by Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch for Johnstone Concreting at their Narrabri quarry. Due to the lack of access to the power grid, the weighbridge operates from batteries charged by solar cells fitted to the roof of the weighbridge hut.

The single deck, above ground weighbridge is fully hot dip galvanised and was manufactured at Accuweigh’s QWM weighbridge manufacturing facility in Brisbane. The weighbridge measures 20m x 3m and is used for weighing truck loads of shale which is delivered to local mine sites for use as a road base.

To minimise weighbridge installation costs, Johnstone Concreting performed all the civils and poured the weighbridge foundations, approaches and deck in accordance with QWM’s weighbridge specifications. This allowed Accuweigh to complete the installation of the load cells, terminate all wiring and test and calibrate the weighbridge in a single trip.

The weighbridge was then certified for trade use up to a capacity of 60,000kg in 20kg increments.

Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company and has branches in all mainland states providing complete after sales service and support for weighbridges and weighing equipment across Australia.
