A Shallow Pit weighbridge was recently installed for the new Green Metal Recyclers facility at Williamson Road, Ingleburn for weighing both incoming our outgoing trucks.
The fully Australian Made weighbridge was supplied and commissioned for trade use by Accuweigh’s Sydney branch in Lansvale, NSW. To minimise space requirements, the weighbridge deck was fitted at ground level to eliminate the need for access ramps which would have impacted on the existing roadways layout.
Pit mounted weighbridges are available in two formats; fully inground and shallow pit, with the fully inground being the more expensive to install and maintain due to its classification as an “Confined Space” which requires specific work permits to be issued every time pit entry is required. Advantages of fully in-ground concrete deck weighbridges are the narrow space requirements only slightly wider than the weighbridge deck and the ability for vehicles to transverse the deck at any angle when fitted into an existing hardstand.
The more cost effective shallow pit weighbridge design was chosen for this site due to the availability of room on both sides of the weighbridge for the required one metre access space for cleaning and servicing requirements. All steelwork is fully hot dip galvanised for superior corrosion resistance in external applications.
Measuring eighteen metres long by three & a half metres wide, this concrete deck weighbridge has a weighing capacity of sixty tonnes and is supported on six heavy duty weighbridge load cells of thirty tonnes capacity each.
