A relocatable steel weighbridge was recently commissioned at Energy Australia’s Somersby depot in New South Wales. Installed by Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch, this steel weighbridge measures twenty-four metres in length using four standard prefabricated weighbridge sections.
Accuweigh’s relocatable steel deck weighbridges offer exceptional strength and durability as the centre block assemblies containing the load cells are also used to join the weighbridge sections together. This design positions the weighbridge joins at the strongest loading points of the weighbridge and minimises deflection of the weighbridge decks under load without requiring expensive oversize structural beams to be used.
Accuweigh’s design results in a low profile steel weighbridge which is very cost effective to manufacture. The low weight of the assembled weighbridge deck along with a low deck height offers further savings by minimising the civils requirements of the weighbridge foundations. Installation times of steel deck weighbridges can be significantly less than a concrete deck weighbridge and can usually be assembled in one working day using a small crane.
Due to the nearby proximity of the client’s site to a RTA checking, this relocatable steel weighbridge gives surety that all trucks leaving the depot can be checked for conformance to legal truck weight limits to avoid overloading fines. The relocatable steel weighbridge will allow the weighbridge to be easily repositioned to a different location if depot expansion requires it.
