INGROUND AXLE SCALES ELIMINATE ACCIDENTAL VEHICLE OVERLOADING

Inground Axle Scales

Inground axle scales are being used to ensure trucks leaving a Victorian freight depot comply with legal axle weights to avoid overloading fines.

The inground axle scales were installed at Total Transports Brooklyn depot in Melbourne to eliminate the chance of accidental vehicle overloading.

Many truck overloading fines are due to overloaded axle groups rather than for exceeding the vehicle’s gross weight limit and an inground axle scale is a cost effective means of readily identifying individual axle weights. The Chain of Responsibility legislation ensures all individuals and companies (including those only remotely involved) with an overloaded vehicle can be included in the prosecution.

All steel used in Accuweigh’s inground axle scales is hot dip galvanised to eliminate potential corrosion caused by exposure to the elements. The axle scales are pit mounted with the weighing deck level with the concrete hardstand for easy vehicle access.

Measuring 4 metres long by 3 metres wide to suit most common axle configurations, this axle scale has a weighing capacity of 30 tonnes. A R5000 digital weight indicator generates the weight readings which are then transmitted to a Rinstrum D740 large digit remote display to allow the drivers to also see the weight readings of each axle group.

Accuweigh has extensive experience with all forms of vehicle weighing applications including axle scales, in-motion axle weighbridges, full length weighbridges and onboard truck scales. All Accuweigh products are fully supported by eight service branches across mainland states providing after sales service.
