A hydraulic weighing system was recently fitted to a custom lifting device for weighing containers of grapes during lifting.

The hydraulic weighing system comprised a heavy duty pressure transducer inserted into the machine's hydraulic lines to sense the change in oil pressure when lifting the heavy containers. A digital weight indicator converts the pressure signal into a digital weight reading to display the weight of the grape containers.
Hydraulic weighing systems can be a very cost effective means of acquiring weights on hydraulic pressure to lift or move items but weighing accuracy is highly dependent on the condition of the hydraulic components. The pivot pins on the lifting arms and hydraulic seals in particular need to be in very good condition to ensure weighing consistency is maintained.
