A heavy duty weighbridge was recently commissioned at Boral’s Wacol brick works in Brisbane for JR Stephens – an Ipswich based transport contractor.
The heavy duty weighbridge was required to accurately track the volumes of sand and aggregates being delivered to the brick works. Manufactured and supplied by Accuweigh’s QWM branch in Brisbane, this fully Australian Made weighbridge features heavy duty construction to cope with the high traffic volumes of heavily laden vehicles.
Concrete deck weighbridges are better suited for heavy duty weighing applications than low profile steel deck weighbridges as the reinforced concrete in the deck substantially increases torsional strength of the weighbridge for a longer life expectancy. The weight of the heavy concrete resists deck movements and allows faster and more accurate vehicle weighings in windy conditions.
The substantial mass of concrete in the weighbridge deck also acts as a buffer to minimise expansion and contraction of the main metal beams during short term temperate changes. This helps eliminate excessive end-to end deck movements under truck braking and acceleration which can dramatically shorten load cell life expectancy.
QWM’s heavy duty weighbridge is 28 metres long by 3.5 metres wide to allow B Doubles and pocket road trains to be accurately weighed in a single weighing transaction. A Driver Control Station and alighting platform were included in the supply to eliminate the need for a weighbridge operator to perform vehicle weighings.
Accuweigh/QWM is Australia’s largest supplier of truck scales and has fully trained service crews and test trucks located in eight branches covering all mainland states providing full service support.
