Accuweigh recently supplied four specially prepared A&D Mercury platform scales to Goodman Fielder in Melbourne for tracking batch consistency of their bread rolls that are supplied to major supermarket chains.
Alain Frichot from Accuweigh's Melbourne branch offered the A&D platform scales retro-fitted with Rinstrum R320 digital weight indicators and a solid state data logger to capture the weight readings of every single box of packed bread rolls for Goodman Fielder's quality control purposes.
Each operator manually packs bread rolls into open box at a rate of 5 boxes a minute for 8 hours each shift, totalling 2400 boxes per operator. At the end of each shift, the operator removes the data logger from the Rinstrum digital weight indicator and connects it into a serial port on the PC which then captures the weight data of every box packed by that operator during each shift.
Depending on configuration, comprehensive batch records are able to be captured, batch number, time, date, operator details, product codes, etc. The PC allows instant access to all the stored data and eliminates the need for cataloguing and storing thousands of used printed ticket rolls for quality control purposes.
Accuweigh is Australia's largest weighing and packaging company with branches in all mainland states.
