A concrete deck weighbridge is being used to weigh truckloads of seeds and mung beans at Five Ways, East of Biloela in Queensland. Installed by Accuweigh’s QWM branch in Brisbane, the heavy duty weighbridge is fitted with a concrete deck measuring 20 metres long by 3.5 metres wide and has a weighing capacity of 80 tonnes.
Concrete deck weighbridges are ideal for heavy duty weighing applications due to the added strength and rigidity the concrete adds to the weighbridge. The weight of the concrete deck also adds significant mass to the weighbridge making for a more stable weighing structure better able to resist weight fluctuations in windy conditions.
Concrete deck weighbridges are also more suited for use in areas where daily temperature fluctuations can cause significant expansion and contraction of steel deck weighbridges. Excessive end-to-end movement of the weighbridge deck is one of the prime causes of load cell failures.
This single deck weighbridge was manufactured at QWM’s own weighbridge manufacturing facility in Brisbane’s northern suburb of Geebung with all metalwork hot dip galvanised for strong corrosion resistance to eliminate rusting caused by external weathering. QWM weighbridges are designed and manufactured to endure extreme use such as in quarries with heavily loaded trucks and high traffic volumes. QWM’s weighbridges contain more steel than opposition units with steel I beam cross sections at 3 metre intervals as opposed to lighter C channel as used by many opposition manufacturers.
