Cargo scales were recently commissioned at an airport in South Australia for weighing trolleys of air cargo.
Installed by Accuweigh’s Adelaide branch, this trade approved cargo scale is used to track the combined weight of all items on each trolley before being loaded into the aircraft.
Accuweigh custom manufactured these cargo scales to measure 4 metres long by 2.4 metres wide in a low profile design and fitted with metal ramps at each end for easy trolley access. The weighing deck of the cargo scales is supported on six heavy duty industrial load cells for a total weighing capacity of 6 tonnes.
The digital weight indicator fitted to the cargo scales also stores the tare weight of each trolley used in the facility to allow only the net weight of cargo to be displayed. The indicator also has totalising capabilities to track the exact weight of cargo loaded into each aircraft. The cargo scales can also assist with actual load positioning in the aircraft by readily identifying excessively heavy trolley loads.
