Dual axle weighbridges were custom manufactured to suit existing weighbridge pits at the Thiess Services waste transfer station in Rocklea, Brisbane. The axle weighbridges were installed in the transfer tunnel where trucks are loaded from overhead by a bulldozer pushing waste down into the trucks.

The axle weighbridges ensure trucks carrying the compacted waste to landfill sites could be loaded to maximum legal weight limits for increased carrying efficiency whilst not incurring overloading fines. Two sets of axle weighbridges were installed; a three metre section for weighing the truck’s drive axles and a larger six metre axle weigher section for weighing the tri-axles at the rear of the truck.

Empty trucks are positioned on the inground axle weighbridges with the weight readings relayed to two large digit remote displays. The bulldozer operator pushes rubbish down into the trucks while watching the weight readings on the remote displays.

Protective rubber gaskets are fitted along all edges of the axle weighbridges to stop spilt rubbish from entering the shallow weighbridge pits which could affect the weighing accuracy. To minimise installation problems in the confines of the transfer tunnel, the axle weighbridges were manufactured in sections and then bolted together while being positioned into the weighbridge pits.

Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company with eight branches spread over all mainland states providing Australia-wide sales and service support on axle weighbridges, in-motion axle weighers and axle weighbridges.
