If configured correctly, multi-deck weighbridges can individually display the weights of all axle groups of both the truck and trailers. For weighing B Doubles, a multi-deck weighbridge comprising four individual weighbridge decks of 4 metres, 6 metres, 8 metres and 10 metres is usually suited. This weighbridge configuration will allow B Doubles to be weighed in one direction only (either entering OR leaving a site – but not both) as the weighbridge decks are spaced to suit usual axle group spacings. It is possible to configure a multi-deck weighbridge for weighing both incoming and outgoing trucks but this requirement is rarely requested.
Digital weight indicators are assigned to each separate weighbridge deck to allow each axle group weight to be displayed. A summing indicator is used to display the total vehicle mass on the multi-deck weighbridge and then relay all deck weights to a PC if required. External remote displays can also be connected to display the axle group weights back to the truck driver.
Another bonus feature of multi-deck weighbridges is their smaller and more accurate weighing increments allowed for trade use – 10kg increments as opposed to 20kg increments on single and twin deck weighbridges on heavy capacity weighbridges. This increased weighing accuracy is a bonus for weighing applications where product is sold over the weighbridge.
