Waterproof Scales are designed for use in wet areas, but there are various levels of "waterproofing" available. The international IP standard for sealing integrity lists IP65 as capable of withstanding low pressure water jets from any angle but with limited ingress. Unfortunately, limited ingress can cause damage to sensitive electronic components. The IP66 rating allows for high pressure water jets from any angle and IP67 & IP68 ratings allow for total immersion in water. Scales carrying an IP69 rating are waterproof in wash down situations as they are designed to resist water ingress from direct spraying from any angle by high pressure hoses and at high water temperatures.
