Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch recently fitted heavy duty industrial load cells to a feed pre-mix bin at the Buchanan, Hunter Valley plant of Pace Farms. Four PT Accupoint load cells were fitted to the pre-mix bin, replacing the previous load cells that had failed due to corrosion problems.
The Accupoint load cell kits have inbuilt restraints to securely affix the pre-mix bin to the load cells to prevent the bin from toppling over due to rotational forces of the mixer. An Accuweigh 5000 digital weight indicator was also installed to power the load cells.
The load cells are used for weighing correct amounts of grain and additives which is then mixed and fed to the growing chickens. High accuracy weighings are required to minimise the chance of behavioural issues developing with the chickens if the correct feed proportions are not achieved.
