HAZARDOUS AREA SCALES FOR DULUX PAINTS

Hazardous Area Scale

Two sets of Hazardous Area Scales were recently supplied to the Dulux factory in Rocklea Queensland.

Accuweigh’s QWM branch sold the two sets of Hazardous Area Scales to replace similar scales damage by recent floods in Brisbane.

Accuweigh’s Michael Clarke supplied two sets of bench scales that had been heavily modified to conform to the stringent Government regulations for Hazardous Area Scales and Weighing Equipment. Also known as Intrinsically Safe Scales, Hazardous Area Scales are designed to operate using minimal current to eliminate the chance of a spark being generated in case of equipment failure.

The hazardous area scales are being used in the laboratory for weighing pigment in batch sizes from 0.5kg up to 30kg capacity. In this application, the scale base is separated from the digital weight indicator.

The power supply operation is very critical in Hazardous Area Scales, as not only is the scale current draw to limited but so is the output from either the internal battery or the external plugpack powering the scales. For Hazardous Area Scales operating from internal battery power, the scales must be taken to a safe area for charging. For AC powered scales in Hazardous Areas, the certified power supply must be hardwired.

Accuweigh has extensive experience in the supply and servicing on Intrinsically safe and hazardous area scales through its eight branches across all mainland states.
