A harsh environment weight indicator replaced a client’s existing indicator that failed due to water ingress.

Accuweigh’s Perth branch retro-fitted the X-320 harsh environment weight indicator to a scale base at the Coogee Chemicals plant in Perth’s Kwinana Industrial Estate. 

Accuweigh’s X-320 harsh environment weight Indicator is completely sealed and rated as IP69K, the highest industrial rating available for resistance to dust and water ingress. The X-320 can withstand direct hosing with high pressure water jets to 1400psi with water temperatures of up to 80°C.

This harsh environment weight indicator is ideal for use in food processing rooms that require washing down with high pressure hoses after each shift. No need to remove the scales from the room or to place heavy vinyl hoods over the X-320’s sensitive weighing electronics – this is one digital weight indicator that can’t fail due to water ingress.

The housing of the Accuweigh X320 Harsh environment weight indicator uses a food grade, impact resistant composite alloy housing incorporating a double ‘o’ ring seal to provide superior sealing performance over traditional stainless steel enclosures. As well as food areas, this robustness of this harsh environment weight indicator is also ideal for chemical manufacturing applications, as in this case.

On many waterproof weight indicators, the weak link in the case sealing is the keypad, but the X-320 harsh environment weight indicator doesn’t use a standard tactile feel keypad but uses a solid keypad this forms part of the housing. The keyboard works on a capacitance effect that that senses an operator’s finger without requiring any actual pressure on the hard keypad surface – even when used with gloves.
