Accuweigh Weighbridges for Dalby Bio-Refinery.

Accuweigh's Brisbane branch recently won the order to supply a concrete deck weighbridge for the first Ethanol bio-energy plant to be built in Australia.

The 3.5 metre wide weighbridge will be an above ground, split-deck design using 2 x 20 metre weighbridges fitted back to back for an overall lenght of 40 metres of weighbridge deck to cater for the now common B-Double road trains.

Accuweight's senior Sales and Marketing consultant, Chris Meeson, stated "this site will be classed as a show piece throughout the emerging bio-energy industry, so it is right that a locally designed and built weighbridge should be in centre position, to be viewed by the world, who will no doubt visit this site.

The fully hot-dip galvanised weighbridge decks will be manufactured locally at QWM's dedicated weighbridge manufacturing facility in Brisbane's northern suburbs. Accuweigh's in-house software company, AASoftware, will be used to supply the dedicated PC based weighbridge software to control and report on all vehicle movements in and out of the facility.

Another world leading manufacturer based in Brisbane, Rinstrum P/L, will be supplying the weighing instrumentation in the form of the now industry standard Rinstrum 5000 digital weight indicators. The weighbridge is scheduled to commence installation during March ’08, with a site completion date later in the year.

The refinery is strategically located with access to surrounding grain crops in the region, ready fuel markets for ethanol in the population centres of south east Queensland and a demand for feedstock for dairy and beef feedlots and piggeries in the Darling Downs region. DBRL’s proposed $100m-plus grain to ethanol plant will require over 200,000t of locally-produced sorghum, providing a new outlet for the district’s grain-producing industry.

The company says when the plant is up-and-running, it will produce more than 80m litres of ethanol in addition to 170,000t of syrup and distillers grains. More than 30 people will be employed at the site with upwards of 150 workers are likely to be involved in the plant’s construction.
