Accuweigh and Yalumba Wines have been cooperating for the introduction of a vine weighing system for monitoring grape development via trellis tension. The data collected from this weight terminal is used to highlight all irregularities in grape development throughout the growth cycle.
Reacting to visual inspections is usually too late as once the crop is showing signs of stress - some damage has already been done. This specialised weighing system gives the viticulturist enhanced levels of real time data to work with; promoting changes to watering and fertilizer levels before any long term damage occurs.
Correct interpretation of this valuable weight data assists with:
1) more accurate yield estimations earlier in the season
2) consistently achieving optimum growth and quality
3) indicating when is the best time to harvest the grapes.
Yalumba's viticulturist for Eden Valley/Barossa, Amanda Mader, has been the driving force for the introduction of this important new breakthrough in vineyard data collection systems in Australia.
Please contact any of the Accuweigh branches across Australia for more info on this exciting new technology for vineyards.
