Weighbridge testing was recently completed on the Port Hunter Commodities weighbridge by Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch. The weighbridge testing was performed on an 80t Ultrahawke weighbridge located at Newcastle’s Kooragang Island.
The weighbridge testing involved preliminary inspections of the weighbridge deck, approaches and load cells to ensure the weighbridge conforms to government regulations. The tested weighbridge is 26 metres long with a concrete deck that is an above ground design with direct access to the weighbridge load cells from the sides of the weighbridge.
Accuweigh’s Weighbridge test unit with 20t of certified test masses were used to test the accuracy of the weighbridge using weight substitution with the help of dead weight in the form of three large end loaders. The initial 20t of test masses are placed on the weighbridge deck and then a change-over point is acquired using smaller test weights.
The test masses are removed and one of the end loaders is placed on the weighbridge and weight added to achieve the exact same change-over point as the test masses achieved. The 20t of certified test masses are them placed on the deck again and the sequence repeated until the 80t capacity is reached.
Each of Accuweigh’s branches in all mainland states is equipped with a weighbridge test unit to allow weighbridge testing to be performed during new installs, under service contracts and on client request.
