Testing Heavy Capacity Scales Can Be Awkward

Scale Testing

Accuweigh’s Brisbane branch recently tested and serviced a set of heavy capacity industrial scales used for weighing coils of colour bond sheeting at a Brisbane steel plant.

This steel coil weigher is particularly awkward to service and calibrate due to the shape of the weighing platform that is designed to securely locate heavy coils of steel sheeting. The scale capacity of 15 tonnes requires that 15 tonne of test masses must be placed onto the scale to ensure correct weighing across the entire weight range.

Servicing and testing custom weighing applications like this is not just a case of stacking test weights where-ever they fit on the scale; the increasingly tougher OH&S requirements now dictate basic safety requirements that must be adhered to for ensuring worker safety.

Accuweigh’s core business is servicing and testing scales – all brands, models and capacities. From lab balances up to 200 tonne hopper scales, Accuweigh’s trained staff service, test and repair all types of scales, both mechanical scales and electronic scales.

Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company with branches in all states.
