QWM Team
Queensland’s own scale company, QWM, recently celebrated 50 years in the weighing industry by purchasing new premises at Geebung in Brisbane’s northern suburbs. QWM was purchased by Accuweigh in 2003 but was run as a separate business until the recent merger to optimise efficiencies in both companies for the overall benefit of clients of both operations.
As well as housing QWM’s weighbridge manufacturing, a large service organisation and an Administration Department; the new building is also head office for Accuweigh’s Queensland operations. Accuweigh’s existing branch in Brisbane’s South at Salisbury, maintains a smaller service crew and is also home to various sales staff and to both Accuweigh’s Software Development and Marketing Departments.
QWM was started in April 1959 by three ex-Avery Scales personnel and quickly evolved into Queensland’s largest industrial weighing company. Queensland Weighing Machines regularly outgrew many previous locations before they finally settled into their previous premises at Banyo .
QWM is widely acknowledged as the manufacturer of Australia’s strongest weighbridges which are built for the most demanding weighing applications. QWM regularly wins large weighbridge tenders for many state based road authorities like NSW’s RTA and SA’s DTEI who regularly use QWM’s weighbridges in their truck checking stations due to the extreme durability of the QWM weighbridge.
With the added strength of the recent merger, the new Accuweigh/QWM branch is going from strength to strength in the weighing industry with some of QWM’s loyal staff taking up high profile positions within the Accuweigh group. The merger also reinforces the strength of Accuweigh which is by far the largest industrial weighing company in Australia with sales and service branches in all mainland states.
