Platform Scales
Accuweigh’s QWM branch recently supplied two sets of heavy duty platform scales to the Gold Coast Desalination Plant. The platform scales are being used for weighing the sludge by-product of the desalination process during short intervals while the larger 30t skip bins scales are being emptied.
The heavy duty platform scales measure 1500mm x 1500mm with a weighing capacity of 5,000kg by 1kg divisions. Four hermetically sealed, stainless steel load cells of 2t capacity each are fitted to both platform scales to ensure a high level of overloading safety.
All metal work of the platform scales and the ramps was fully hot dip galvanised before being coated with a special polyamide cured epoxy coating at 75 microns DFT for very high corrosion resistance in the salty environment.
The platform scales are used to weigh the screenings captured in the drum screen prior to removal from site for disposal. Accuweigh’s R5000 digital weighing indicators were mounted in separate 316 stainless steel Rittal cabinets rated to IP68 for full waterproofing. The indicators are connected to Profibus modules to allow direct interfacing with the sites SCADA system.
Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company and has eight branches spread over mainland states providing sales and service on platform scales, weighbridges and all types of industrial weighing equipment.
