REDUCED INSTALLATION COSTS ON INDUSTRIAL HOPPER SCALES

The installation procedures used in heavy capacity Hopper Scales were recently modified to eliminate double handling of the oversize metal hoppers for one of Accuweigh's regular clients.

Initiated by Accuweigh’s QWM branch in Brisbane, the weigh hoppers can now be correctly aligned with other mating components before the load cell mounting hardware is rigidly attached to the concrete foundations.

Previous Hopper Scale installations for this large client had the standard mounting hardware attached to raised concrete plinths with access to the securing holes blocked by the overhead metal brackets that attach the load cell top plates to the legs of the supplied weigh hopper. This required the weigh hopper to be raised again after the hole positions had been marked to allow for drilling and then lowered once again – a lengthy process that usually involved many hours of effort and the assistance of two heavy capacity cranes.

A joint effort by Accuweigh’s sales and service staff led to the supply of manufactured metal brackets of the same height as the client’s proposed concrete plinths but with a larger footprint. This simple redesign with the securing holes positioned away from the over head metalwork allows coring of the holes into the concrete foundations to be performed with the hopper scales correctly positioned.

Accuweigh’s fully trained and experienced staff are continually reviewing work procedures and implementing processes to improve working efficiencies for the benefit of our clients. These Industrial Hopper Scales were installed at the Wacol Waste Water Treatment Plant for the Brisbane City Council and have a weighing capacity of fifty tonnes.

Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company and has eight branches providing complete after sales service support to all mainland states for all industrial scales and weighing equipment.
