A set of platform scales were recently commissioned for Baxter’s Foods in Campbellfield Victoria for weighing ingredients for batches of sun dried tomatoes.
To suit food regulations, the platform scales were manufactured in stainless steel to cope with regular cleaning using harsh detergents.
Rather than offer a cheap platform scale fitted with a thin stainless steel plate over the weighing plate, Accuweigh’s Melbourne branch supplied a platform scale fully manufactured in stainless steel to greatly reduce the chances of corrosion causing extensive damage or degenerating into a health risk at a later time due to flaking rust.
The platform scales use a drop centre design that has the weighing surface lower than the height of the load cells to provide a very low height profile. For sites where it isn’t possible to fit fully in-ground platform scales, a drop centre platform scale is ideal for weighing applications requiring heavy trolleys to be manually handled on and off the platform scales.
To complement the stainless steel construction of the platform scales, an Accuweigh X320 digital weight indicator rated to IP69K was fitted to ensure the weighing electronics can’t be water damaged through washing with high pressure hoses.
