Avery Mechanical Scales that were totally submerged during recent floods at Brisbane’s Rocklea markets were returned to good condition by QWM’s Geebung branch.
Unlike electronic scales, Mechanical Scales usually suffer very little damage by submersion in water and usually only require a thorough cleaning and reassembly.
These Avery 3551 mechanical platform scales were fully dismantled with all basework components thoroughly inspected, cleaned and greased. The rack, pinion and air dashpots in the headwork required extensive flushing and cleaning before the scales were reassembled. The scales were then fully tested with certified test weights before being returned to the produce merchant.
