Accuweigh’s Perth branch is currently installing a Driver Control Station (DCS) at BHP’s Billiton plant in WA to ensure trucks being loaded with ammonium nitrate cannot exceed legal weight limits for public roads.
The Driver Control Station is pre-loaded with loading capacities and axle load ratings for each truck using the filling facility so the software can pre-define the maximum amount of nitrate loaded into the three product compartments on each truck.
The driver enters the truck ID using the touch screen of the Driver Control Station which then pre-defines maximum load values for each compartment on that particular truck. The driver then enters the required total product weight and the individual compartment weights up to the maximum for each as defined by the DCS software.
The Driver Control Station then automatically controls the truck filling by regulating the flow of ammonium nitrate from each of the three loading valves from an overhead storage hopper. This automated filling into each relevant truck compartment ensures an accurate total filling weight is achieved while also ensuring legal axle loadings are not compromised.
Accuweigh’s Driver Control Station is fully integrated into the BHP’s network to allow comprehensive transaction details of all truck filling operations to be made available to and accessed directly by BHP’s own management reporting systems.
Accuweigh is Australia’s largest industrial weighing company and has branches in all mainland states providing local, state based service support for national clients.
